Director, Programs, and Systems Engineering, Launch Vehicles

The Launch Vehicles (LV) Chief Technical Director leads the program and systems engineering organization for our Launch Vehicles business unit. The LV Chief Technical Director serves as the technical authority for the launch vehicle organization, ensuring the technical execution and integrity of all product lines in the business unit.

What you’ll get to do:

  • Provide senior technical leadership for our launch vehicle programs that span space launch, missile defense, strategic defense, and hypersonic; ensure mission success and high performance in technical execution
  • Lead our technology development investments, working closely with stakeholders across our organization to align the technology roadmap and related investments with our strategic priorities
  • Provide thought leadership related to next generation products and processes
  • Lead investigation and resolution of critical anomalies and problems
  • Lead the evolution of our engineering standards and processes to deliver best value to our customers
  • Establish close working relationships with senior technical leaders within our customer organizations
  • Develop and hire the next generation of technical leaders and program chief engineers

Basic Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline
  • Experience leading technical teams
  • Experience in aerospace and/or defense systems development and operations, with emphasis on hardware-intensive systems
  • Good communication skills
  • 14 Years with bachelor’s in science; 12 Years with Masters; 9 Years with PhD
  • Active DoD Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Master’s degree or PhD in STEM or technical management
  • Domain expertise in launch vehicle propulsion or aerospace electronic systems
  • Understanding of DoD systems engineering requirements

Salary Range: 

  • $186,700 USD – $280,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
