As an FPGA / Communication Engineer of ODYSSEUS Space, you will be responsible for definition, implementation, simulation, and testing of high-data-rate FPGA-based encoder and decoder for CYCLOPS laser communication terminals. As a part of a larger team, you will contribute to the architecture of the end-to-end direct-to-Earth laser communication system, and in later stages, validation of system performance on the ground and in orbit.
The job involves design, customization and implementation of encoder/decoder IP cores in VHDL and Verilog, performing simulations, breadboarding in the lab; active collaboration with systems engineer and electronics engineer for assessment of impact on the system design; performing trade- off analyses, setting performance expectations, and requirements for subcomponents.
