Your Tasks:

As member of the project engineering team in charge of developing satellite for different missions, reporting to the Project System Engineering Manager:

  • Definition of architectures and designs of Communication systems for satellite from high level specifications;
  • Analysis and trade-offs in support of the Engineering and Procurement teams;
  • Responsible for link budgets and the capability of the Communication systems design to meet the technical requirements;
    definition of the technical solutions to be implemented in the design, from the concept definition to the detailed design;
  • Break-down of the technical requirements to subsystems/equipment, generation of the technical specifications for subsystems/equipment;
  • Definition and implementation of the development and verification approach, establishing the corresponding documents, i.e. design, development & verification plans, test plans, design justification documents, interface control documents, verification control documents etc.
  • Lead and coordinate the technical project tasks for the development of the Communication systems design, with the objective to meet the technical requirements within the budget and schedule constraints defined by the Project Manager;
  • Manage technical interfaces with customers, project partners, subcontractors and suppliers;
  • Responsible for spectrum management related tasks to meet ITU frequency regulatory needs, i.e. creation and submissions of satellite filings and support in the accomplishment of frequency coordination processes with other Administrations up to Notification submission and Bring into Use assignments;
  • Support the system engineering team in reviewing and updating system-level budgets, i.e. data volume, mass, power budgets…;
  • Support the Procurement Manager in the procurement of Communication systems and components from external subcontractors and suppliers, participating to reviews and meetings, responsible for the technical acceptance of the subcontractors’ and suppliers’ activities;
  • Support the system engineering team in the definition of the satellite mechanical, thermal and electrical design features impacting the Communication systems;
  • Support the project AIT team in definition and execution of test plan and procedures for verification of Communication systems, electrical ground support equipment and RF suitcases;

Your Qualifications:

  • Master degree (Msc) in Electronics, Telecommunications RF courses background during University/Master are preferable.
  • Medium (5 years) experience in Communication systems design, integration, test from equipment level through to system level;
  • Experience in Satellite Communication systems;
  • Good knowledge of main RF simulation tools (FEM analysis/simulation background needed)
  • Experience in analysis of supplier data and presentation of performance;
  • Experience in frequency licensing processes and spectrum management for space and ground terminals in accordance with ITU Radio Regulations;
  • Good communication, cooperation and organization skills;
  • Personal attitude to team working
  • Capable to work under pressure with tight planning
  • Willingness to take responsibility;
  • Good analytical and system-oriented thinking skill;
  • Available to frequent business travels in Europe;
  • Fluent in spoken and written English (must be able to read and write complex documents and to discuss and negotiate with international partners, including English native speakers), knowledge of Italian is preferable
