What You’ll Do: 

The Flight Dynamics Mission Analyst will work in the Flight Dynamics (FD) Team and report to the Flight Dynamic Mission Analysis Manager. The analyst will perform pre-mission and in-orbit operational analysis for OneWeb’s satellite constellation, and contribute to the development of the Flight Dynamics System which performs all the FD related tasks for the constellation. The successful candidate will proactively identify and address challenges using innovative methods and ideas that result in positive impact, and is expected to lead dedicated mission analysis activities with initiative.

The candidate should provide support to operations during normal working hours, and may periodically provide shift support during critical satellite operations, in addition to periodically staff the on-call support rotation such that safe and efficient operations are ensured by the Spacecraft Operations Team on a 24/7 basis. The Flight Dynamics Mission Analyst plays an integral role in the successful operations of the OneWeb constellation.

Duties will include:

  • Perform full mission lifetime Flight Dynamics analyses from launch to mission to de-orbit including:
  1. Maneuver Planning and Performance
  2. Trajectory Analysis and Design
  3. Orbit Determination
  4. Constellation Analysis
  • Support development, validation and verification, and maintenance of the Flight Dynamics ground software
  • Support development of the Flight Dynamics Operational Cadence
  • Support Automation of Flight Dynamics processes
  • Support system readiness, planning, preparation, execution, and evaluation for all phases of spacecraft lifetime; from launch to mission to de-orbit
  • Support mission requirements development and verification
  • Writing requirement specifications, interface control documents, and engineering reports
  • Support mission CONOPS development

What It Takes: 

  • MSc or PhD in Aerospace Engineering or relevant field
  • 5+ years of satellite astrodynamics analysis experience including orbit determination, maneuver planning, error analysis, and perturbation analysis
  • Experience with orbit analysis tools, i.e. GMAT, OREKIT, STK
  • Experience with common computer development languages, i.e. Java, Python
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively
  • Strong analytical and computing skills
  • High level of problem-solving capabilities
  • Solid understanding of the scientific and numerical computing requirements and limitations of physical systems
  • Ability to work in an environment with rapidly evolving system requirements
  • Excellent oral and written communication skill
