RESPONSIBILITIES

Ready to make an impact! Peraton is seeking an experienced and high speed, Senior Systems Engineering Manager to serve as the Systems Engineering & Integration Processes Lead for a fast-paced program supporting a government customers Ground Segment Mission Systems and Integration (MSE&I) efforts.

The contract provides Mission Systems Engineering & Integration (MSE&I) support for a government customer in the areas of space systems Tracking, Transport and Ground segments. The role of team is to ensure the segments operate in unison to support mission scenarios and experiments, specifically: the Ground Segment Elements function as an integrated entity providing telemetry, tracking and commanding (TT&C), mission data uplink/downlink, mission planning and payload tasking, constellation operations, and integrated cross-domain network management in support of on-orbit demonstrations; System, cross-Segment, and external dependencies and interfaces are understood, documented, and managed; Systems engineering support is provided to system-level and segment level systems engineering activities so that they have support beyond what is provided by the space vehicle (SV) and ground contracts; and Gaps in support for launch operations, mission operations, security, information technology (IT), and other areas have a means for closure.

In this role you will be responsible for leadership of the following Systems Engineering teams and functions:

  • Schedule Management
  • Risk Management
  • Configuration Management (Engineering Review Board and Virtual CM Processes)
  • Giver/Receiver Management
  • System Event Readiness Planning & Support
  • Collaboration Tools Environment administration (primarily Confluence and JIRA)
  • Agile Scrum Master role for overall project management of primary action item execution processes (planning, execution, status reporting)

The Senior Systems Engineering Manager will be responsible for the following but not limited to:

  • Lead a team of Systems Engineers who perform the aforementioned systems engineering functions.
  • Work directly in various areas when required to enable closure to deadlines.
  • Lead or support recurring weekly meetings with various program stakeholders and senior customer leadership. This will include preparing presentation slides and regularly briefing status, issues, and/or recommendations.
  • Assessing the capabilities planned for the satellite vehicle Tracking and Transport segments, and how these interact with the ground architecture.
  • Support development of an implementation plan to ensure compatibility and interoperability of the combined system.

The Senior Systems Engineering Manager will have management responsibilities that shall include the following but not limited to:

  • Direct management responsibility for a small team of four (4) – five (5) staff.
  • Responsible for goals and objectives setting, mentoring, development, performance assessment, staffing and retention, and general managerial support for all direct program staff.
  • **The role allows for 100% telework.  Minimal travel (<10%) is expected**

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI Security Clearance
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 12+ years of experience; Master’s Degree and 10+ years of experience; PhD and 10+ years of experience
  • Previous experience managing and overseeing teams of four (4+) or more personnel
  • Possess a breadth of experience and baseline understanding one (1) or more of the Systems
  • Engineering teams and functions to be able to effectively lead and direct the team
  • Full lifecycle systems engineering experience (understanding the various phases of the Systems Engineering “V”)
  • Experience working Space Systems acquisitions
  • Experience required supporting similar Space Domain architectures
  • Effective communication skills, with experience leading teams and frequently engaging with customers
  • Effective time management skills, with the ability to work independently and provide leadership to focus a team on execution priorities and deliveries on tight timelines
  • Flexibility to manage the responsibilities and pressures of a fast-paced program

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 15 years of experience; Master’s Degree and 13 years of experience; PhD and 10 years of experience
  • Previous experience managing and overseeing teams of five (5) or more personnel
  • Previous experience managing the two (2) or more of the following Systems Engineering teams and functions:
    • Schedule Management
    • Risk Management
    • Configuration Management (Engineering Review Board and Virtual CM Processes)
    • Giver/Receiver Management
    • System Event Readiness Planning & Support
    • Collaboration Tools Environment administration (primarily Confluence and JIRA)
    • Agile Scrum Master

  • Colorado Salary Minimum: $105,900
  • Colorado Salary Maximum: $257,100The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position, and is just one component of Peraton’s total compensation package for employees.
