Manufacturing Specialist

You will work under the supervision of the Lead Manufacturing Specialist building development and flight hardware for satellite propulsion systems. This position will include receiving and inspecting mechanical and fluidic components, assembling ground and flight hardware to drawing and procedure specifications, and working with the team to determine best production procedures.

You will work in a fast paced environment and quickly see the results of your work be delivered to customers and launched into space. Your work will directly contribute to the development of the next generation of in space propulsion systems, and the only new electric propulsion technology in development in the United States.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs manufacturing duties involved with mechanical and fluidic assemblies
  • Reports to the Lead Manufacturing Specialist
  • Works with Lead Manufacturing Specialist and Responsible Engineers to determine best production processes

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Tube bending, cleaning
  • Mechanical parts inspection for high pressure fluid assemblies
  • Basic mill and lathe operations
  • Reading and interpreting build procedures
  • Reading and interpreting mechanical drawings
  • Torquing and buying off torque performance from other technicians
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience related to technician level work in manufacturing production, fabrication, welding, and machining on electrical and mechanical devices.
  • Advanced communication skills for reading and understanding technical drawings
  • Experienced in designing and managing machine shop tool & workbench organization, proper use of PPE, Illness and Injury Prevention practices, and Hazardous materials handling.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • At least 10 years of experience related to technician level work in manufacturing production, fabrication, welding, and machining on electrical and mechanical devices.
  • At least 5 years of experience in fast paced aerospace engineering and production environment
  • Previous work in a prototyping or manufacturing environment working on a wide range of projects.
