Context:

The Principal Engineer designs network solutions for SES SG Customers. Demonstrates extensive design/operations knowledge in the following disciplines: RF Systems, SATCOM systems, solution implementation, modulation schemes, encoding and complex VSAT network Design using TDMA and spread spectrum technology and other leading edge communications technologies. Experience with spectrum management and planning, IP network design, general facility, power and sub system design, and Terrestrial Systems is required. Provides technical solutions to customers when responding to Request For Proposals.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Prior experience in US Military, NATO or Federal Government Contracts
  • 10-15 years experience with Satellite Network Design, and Satellite Communications Systems including turn key designs
  • Extensive background in Satellite Communications and Spectrum Management
  • Ability to interpret complex terrestrial engineering requirements
  • Ability to design and articulate technical solutions for proposals
  • Extensive knowledge of satellite link budgets
  • Five years experience in network design
  • Knowledge of M&C systems, SNMP Architecture and Network Management Systems
  • Extensive knowledge of iDirect equipment capabilities
  • Excellent knowledge of communications systems design and implementation
  • Excellent Interpersonal and communications skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to effectively interact with senior management, BD and SES technical resources
  • Excellent organizational skills and a team player

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develops technical responses to requests for proposals providing the technical/engineering solutions supported by clear written descriptions of the proposed solutions
  • Responsible for in-depth understanding of technical information defined in CSSRs and PWS
  • Leads engineering efforts in support of request for proposals
  • Works closely with the Sales and Business Development & provides sales engineering support
  • Develops equipment installation plan and service acceptance test plans
  • Develops Statement of Work for equipment integrators and service providers
  • Specifies equipment, and services as per design solutions and requirements.
  • Generates engineering drawings and documentation
  • Provides technical support to field operations personnel in resolving circuit problems/issues
  • Designs customer solutions for specific customer and product requirements
  • Assists Sales and Account executives in the interprettion and definition of requirements
  • Maintains up to date working knowledge of SES satellite fleet as well as satellites of other operators which support solutions and leverage either as as partners, vendors or as a competitive threat
  • Evaluates existing infrastructure and customer solutions for upgrades/improvements
  • Attends customer meetings and conferences as necessary
  • Develops vendor relationships with new and existing suppliers
