Job description

Using your expertise, you’ll apply your technical and scientific skills to one or more of the following groups:

  • Maritime Countermeasures
  • Electronic Countermeasures
  • Sensing and Detection
  • Communications and Network Engineering
  • Systems Engineering

These groups span our 5 Science and Technology Divisions, so you could be based at Dstl Porton Down, Dstl Portsdown West or Dstl Fort Halstead. There will also be the opportunity to work with industry, potentially internationally, and on trials in a variety of locations.


You’ll have a degree or advanced professional qualification in Electronics Engineering, Communications Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Software Engineering, System Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Architecture, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or relevant experience.

Selection process details

Selection for interview will be based on the assessment of your CV and previous skills and experience.

The interview will consist of both Technical and Behavioural questions designed to explore you skills and knowledge, and how you prefer to work.

Feedback will only be provided if you attend an interview or assessment.
