Primary Role

  • To provide core and competent RF and antenna expertise to terminal development for all satellite terminals for time to market and be in line with corporate commercial strategy and business roll put plan and within budget;
  • To work and manage out-sourcing and 3rd party partners for joint development of antennas and RF components based on requirements from Product Engineering teams and customers while exploiting better technology to develop the terminals on time and meeting customer and service provider requirements
  • To be able to design, and oversee development of prototypes, and final qualification of all the required RF components and antennas as required under all development
  • To work closely and support RF team for building electronic steerable antennas for applications for low cost mobility market
  • To manage sub-tasks and sub-components development and expedite development cycle of such products.
  • To be able to constantly liase and communicate with stake holders, both internal and external, so that all risks and the oversee and manage the development of the new satellite terminals meeting the requirements from customers and service providers
  • To maintain global outlook of advance antenna technology and microwave products that could affect the development across portfolios
  • To identify technical risk during development cycles and be able to adopt immediate recovery and mitigating actions to maintain program schedules
  • To ensure required and sufficient development details to be handover to the production team in HQ for final commercial production at the end of development cycle
  • To constantly provide update to HQ on progress and issues
  • To develop required tools, possibly via partners or sub-contractors (e.g. voice codec) and establish processes to improve engineering productivity with vendors and partners

Key Experience

  • At least 10 year+ experience in satellite industry in antenna, RF components design and microwave components design for satellite terminal development
  • Knowledgeable and experience in development of antennas and active RF components, RF MMIC circuitry based on simulation and be able to turn the design to prototyping for measurement before manufacturing
  • Knowledge in use of industrial antenna, RF design tools, software and work stations for the design and simulation of antenna and microwave components such as CST, HFSS, Wasp-Net etc
  • working experience in development of low cost phase array and electronically steerable antennas for commercial applications, including production testing and calibration
  • Experience in regulatory standards and standardization body in land, maritime and aviation applications such as FCC, ETSI, FAA, RTCA
  • Have technical skill to analysis level cascade diagram of RF chains and optimization of performance and spurious interference
  • Technical communication skill to interface with technical peers of customers to make sure product requirements are met and expectation are managed according to program milestones
  • Support the schedule for product development and roll-out activities, identifying dependencies and ensuring timely roll-out to meet business goals.

Minimum qualifications

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent in Electronic or Telecommunications engineering.
  • 3 years of actual experience as a RF and Antenna designer and engineer
  • Knowledgeable in integration and validation of end-end satellite communication system
  • Experience in working with third-party vendors such as SOC vendors and system integrators.

Preferred qualifications

  • Knowledgeable in BGAN system and terminal development
  • Knowledge and experience in GMDSS operation and terminal requirements
  • Knowledge in electronic steerable antenna based on array of elements
  • Team player with organizational skills and the ability to work autonomously when required
  • Self-motivated, positive attitude, with willingness and ability to learn
  • Excellent oral and written communication in English
  • Willingness to travel on a global basis and attending meetings in odd hours
  • Ability to participate in an international technical meetings/working groups
  • Good presentational skills
