We are looking for a Pre-Sales Engineer to work in Diegem, Belgium.

The key individual will support the cybersecurity Product and Sales team on its activities for governmental agencies and commercial clients. You will have the opportunity to work in a challenging environment with state-of-the-art technologies within the cybersecurity and space domains.

Tasks and Activities

The scope of work will include:

  • Work deals assigned to the sales team, prioritizing effort based on maximizing total impact on team productivity and profit, or as directed by the sales manager.
  • Proactively scoping the technical solution required to address customer requirements, assessing customers met and unmet needs, and recommending solutions that optimize value for both the customer and the company.
  • Securing input from all necessary solution stakeholders within the customer firm. Adapting solutions, as necessary, to ensure appropriate support.
  • Coordinating closely with internal sales, sales support, and service resources to align solution design with customers’ business and technical requirements.
  • Securing commitments needed to ensure a deal’s “technical close” from customer technical staff.
  • Meeting assigned targets for profitable sales growth in assigned product lines, market areas, channel, or teams supported.
  • Opportunistically pursuing additional business development opportunities within customer firms. Collaborating with sales to ensure these opportunities are effectively covered.
  • Monitoring customer support for technical solutions proposed throughout the sales process and alerting the sales and account teams to potential risks of deal closure.
  • Providing support on technical proposal writing.

Skills and Experience

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and experience in engineering, information systems, or business administration.
  • A minimum of five years’ IT or cybersecurity industry experience, including two or more years in sales engineering or consulting.
  • Proven technology skills, outstanding interpersonal abilities, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, plus analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience in SW development (any language), or scripting.
  • A positive, service-oriented personality.
  • A willingness to travel for work.
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken.

The following skills would be highly desirable:

  • Experience with Infrastructure as a service systems, such as VMWare Vcloud director, OpenNebula or OpenStack.
  • Experience with KVM virtualization technology.
  • Information Security concepts involving incident detection, analysis, decision support and response.
  • Knowledge of Networking (LAN/WAN) technologies:
    • Layer 2 technologies (Ethernet based).
    • TCP/IP.
    • IP routing protocols.
    • VPN techniques, tunneling protocols.
    • SSL/TLS.
    • Firewall systems.
    • Traffic analysis.
  • Knowledge of operating systems:
    • Linux (SysAdmin proficiency).
    • Windows.
  • Experience in pre-sales or technical support of solutions for cyber defence or security operations, including some of the following:
    • Identity Management and Authentication systems.
    • Vulnerability Assessment (VA) tools.
    • Penetration Testing (PenTest) tools.
    • Host or network-based Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS).
    • Log management and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems.
