ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a great opportunity to join Rocket Lab’s propulsion team, in the role of Junior Propulsion Engineer.  You will be involved in hands on work supporting Rocket Lab’s engineering teams and works alongside the current development engineers and technicians.

Your daily tasks will vary widely from logistics, manufacturing support, testing support through to data analysis and undertaking some basic reporting. Predominantly this role will see you supporting Rocket Lab’s development work, however, you will also need to be flexible and willing to fill in the gaps within the teams when needed to  ensure the Electron launch vehicle heads into orbit.

What you need to bring to the role 

  • Degree qualified at either Bachelors, Masters or an advanced degree in a relevant engineering program.
  • Capable of being self-managing and committed to working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capable of displaying previous hands-on experience gained in engineering project teams, lab research, or through a prior relevant internship or work experience.
  • Professional and positive communication skills both written and verbal
  • Able to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
  • Familiarity and/or experience working with a 3D CAD package (i.e. SolidWorks/NX/Catia)

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in 5S, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma principles
  • Experience with one or more of the following:Avionics/Electronics/Mechanical design principles
  • Process failure mode and effects analysis (PMFEA)
  • Hands-on skills with composite structures, PCBAs, electrical systems, electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Automation/Scripting experience using Python
