JOB DESCRIPTION

The Network Manager reports to the Head of Division and is mainly responsible for the global architecture of the network infrastructures of SatCen, classified and unclassified.

Specific tasks include:

  • Design the architecture of the network,
  • Prepare technical specifications for tenders,
  • Define and implement security measures on the various network infrastructures adapted to their level of classification,
  • Implement monitoring and reporting measures on the network performance and functioning,
  • Troubleshooting system and network problems, diagnosing, and solving hardware or software faults;
  • Providing support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports;
  • Performing additional duties as directed by the Head of Division

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • University degree in the field of Computer science and in Informatics Systems;
  • A minimum of 5 years professional experience in Computer science and in Informatics Systems, including at least 3 years professional experience in Network management.
  • Certification in network management,
  • Formal training in Network Security (at least one of CISSP, CISA, CEH or equivalent),
  • Strong Knowledge and experience in routing and switching;

Desirable

  • Experience on storage technologies as NAS and SAN,
  • Knowledge and experience of classified networks requirements,
  • Knowledge of security environments and level 7 firewalls.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCES

  • Ability to take the initiative, proactive attitude to optimize processes and maximise results;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills including the ability to anticipate potential problems, determine and implement solutions;
  • Planning and organisational skills;
  • High degree of commitment and flexibility;
  • High level of customer and service-orientation;
  • Strong drafting and communication skills in English both orally and in writing, at least at the level C1; knowledge of another EU language would be an asset.

ELEGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Nationality of an E.U. Member State;
  • Security Clearance to at least EU SECRET, or equivalent. If the successful candidate is not in possession of said clearance, the SatCen will request it, but no appointment will be fully confirmed until it has been received;
  • Be physically fit to perform his/her duties. Prior to the appointment, the successful candidate will be medically examined to verify the fulfilment of the requirement set out in Article 6 of the SatCen Staff Regulations;
  • As the SatCen is situated in an air force base with limited public transport outside Madrid, a driving license is highly desirable.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

  • Employment at SatCen is governed by the SatCen Staff Regulations;
  • This post is graded A1/A3 of the Coordinated Organizations salary scale;
  • Posting is at EU SatCen, Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid) Spain;
  • The selected candidate will be required to start in January 2022.
