Satellogic aims to capture every square meter of the Earth's surface to derive insights and enable better decision making for industries, governments, and individuals. Satellogic has created small, inexpensive satellites that transmit real-time data and images back home. Our constellation already has several high-resolution satellites in orbit and is growing to 300 in the next few years to provide new insights about our planet.

Mechanical and Material Engineer

In this position, you will be responsible for proposing mechanical solutions to our everyday challenging needs. You will be encouraged to work with all the R&D department, finding a way to achieve every high level requirements, and preparing detailed engineering to cover those demands.  You will have to apply all your mechanical knowledge, and explain your ideas inside and outside the team. Your space-grade and composite materials knowledge will be extremely useful for this position

In this role, you will:

  • Review and propose different materials for our structural parts.
  • Develop and establish a standard for our surface treatments needs.
  • Be the PoC (Point of Contact) of mechanical services team, in several projects (new and existing).
  • Work with all R&D department partners, bringing solutions and new ideas.
  • Design new parts and assemblies for our new satellite models, and for the ground support and manufacturing equipment.
  • Support our manufacturing facility in Uruguay.

What we require

  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical or material engineering.
  • Composite and/or space-grade material knowledge
  • Relevant industry experience.
  • University degree or equivalent qualifications in aerospace, mechanical or material engineering.
  • CAD working knowledge (CATIA preferred).
  • Optomechanical knowledge is a plus.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills.
  • Based in Buenos Aires, Argentina (Ability to travel periodically to Montevideo Uruguay).
  • Language: Fluent in English and Spanish
