Role Description Summary

The Network Operations Engineer is a role in which you are responsible for the successful integration of the O3b product portfolio into the Global Infrastructure. As customer facing position, it will concentrate on the support and growth of existing & new business products. You will gain a broad knowledge of the O3b product range and how these are integrated as customer solutions.

Primary Responsibilities / Key Result Areas

  • Participate in lifecycle of a customer project, Post Sales through to Customer Acceptance
  • Liaise with customers and support the integration of O3b products with their infrastructure
  • Work with Engineering & Product Development Teams and support the growth of the O3b portfolio
  • Work efficiently as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Adhere to delivery schedules and manage time accordingly
  • Configuration, testing & implementation of O3b Products
  • Interact with other operational groups and support coordination of projects
  • Proactively expand areas of knowledge and seek out new experience
  • Development of technical support documentation for handover to Operations
  • Develop a full understanding of existing O3b processes & procedures to provide input for continuous improvement
  • Administration of Monitoring Tools to support customer solutions
  • Ad-hoc tasks as assigned by line manager


  • Excellent/Good command of MS Office package (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio)
  • Good communication skills in English, both in writing and verbal
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Motivated self-starter
  • Willingness to expand knowledge and self-study
  • Proactive and hands-on mentality
  • Strong interpersonal skills, verbal & written
  • Team player & also work with minimal supervision

Qualification & Experience

  • BS degree in Engineering or Computer Science require
  • Juniper certifications and experience, preferred e.g. JNCIS / JNCIP
  • Cisco certifications, e.g. CCNP, preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in IP internetworking, preferably with 3 or more years in the satellite arena or a service provider environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of BGP, OSPF and MPLS, Layer 2 / 3 VPNs and IPsec
  • Knowledge and deployment experience of Quality of Service within a network
  • Familiarity with the MX, SRX, EX Juniper product lines
  • Experience in WAN Optimisation Products
  • Experience with Unix / Linux systems administration and creation shell scripts to automate tasks
  • Network analysis and management experience using SNMP, NTP, DNS, SSH, etc.
  • Experience of integrating communication systems with multiple vendor components
  • Experience with physical design best practices, e.g., rack installation, cabling and management
  • Experience in a start-up environment and proven track record of working on complex projects with multiple reporting lines
  • Experience of dealing directly with customers and understand how to manage expectations
  • A working knowledge of Satellite Systems a bonus

Other Key Requirements / Comments

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
