  • Lead and manage a staff of hourly employees to assemble and test space lasers and meet all production and development demands
  • Ensure a strong focus is placed on safety and achieve excellence in safety performance
  • Foster strong relationships with all supporting teams (design engineering, automation team, supply chain, integration customers, etc.) and build partnerships where required to achieve mutual success
  • Develop technical and business processes that improve the way the laser factory operates, coordinating with engineering teams as required
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive asset maintenance plan which includes assurance of adequate machine maintenance schedules and back-up spares availability
  • Develop, execute and track technician training to ensure all skillsets are met to perform required operations for the area


  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial, aerospace, electrical, manufacturing, or other engineering discipline
  • 3+ years of experience working on manufacturing, design, and process development of optical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, or electrical assemblies with stringent requirements


  • 1+ years of leadership and people management experience in a production or manufacturing environment
  • Track record of achieving challenging production targets in fast-paced production environments
  • Project experience successfully bringing new production facilities and asserts online
  • Hands-on experience with optical devices, engineering test equipment, or technically challenging electrical or mechanical devices
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels in the organization, including production technicians, engineers, and the executive level
  • Ability to adapt to ever changing work assignments in a fast-paced work environment
  • Experience monitoring, tracking and continually improving the total cost of unit production
  • Ability to focus on process improvement and think strategically about future direction of the manufacturing department
  • Working proficiency with DFMEA and PFMEA methodology and implementation
