Our client, a market-leading IT services provider, is currently seeking an experienced Network Support Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. Due to growth in the business, our client is looking to hire someone with a passion for technology and expanding their knowledge, and loves working with customers to solve problems.

You will be working with the existing team as well as collaborating with remote teams to assist with the management of client’s network infrastructure within their hosted environments (on-prem and AWS cloud) as well as resolving escalated issues. In this role you will get several opportunities to improve and work on your skill set for growth within the organisation.

Day-to-day:

  • Provide network support at level 2 to managed services customers.
  • Actioning of service requests and workflow management – ticket creation, triage, classification, prioritisation, assignment, actioning, resolution, closure.
  • Schedule and complete firmware baselining of the customer environment to maintain the firmware versions of switch, router, firewall and associated software versions within vendor’s supported levels.
  • Ensure that support tickets are completed in a timely manner and escalated where necessary.
  • Complete duties as per scheduled coverage, including unassigned queue, daily alerts and other BAU tasks.
  • Monitor and respond to event alerts.
  • Action service desk daily checklist items.
  • Escalate complex/unresolved incidents to senior engineers.

Technical experience required:

  • Strong technical ability to understand technical content relating to network switching, firewalls, routers, etc and able to troubleshoot end to end with the assistance from the infrastructure support team members.
  • Competency in one or more network vendor’s hardware and software (Cisco, Palo Alto, HP, Fortinet, Sophos, Meraki, or any other similar brands).
  • Good grasp of the fundamentals including but not limited to the OSI model, switching, VLANs, routing, firewall rules, etc.
  • Excellent customer support and communication skills.
  • A proven ability to demonstrate initiative, attention to detail and time management skills.
  • ITIL experience or certifications would be highly regarded.
