On behalf of the European Space Agency, we are looking for a highly skilled Systems Security Development and Testing Engineer to work in ESTEC, in the Netherlands.

What is expected from you:

Support ESA in the area of system security engineering activities related to the development of software for testing, simulation tools or testbeds.

The activities also include:

  • System security analysis.
  • Software design, engineering and development, including hybrid ground/space systems and simulation tools.
  • Regularly report the status of the activities and the analysis results.

What you offer:

  • Good knowledge of secure communication systems.
  • Very good knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP stack and other modern common protocols).
  • A general understanding of the concepts of applied cryptography and secure communications.
  • Very good skills in programming with Python and packet crafting libraries such as Sockets and Scapy; knowledge of other languages such as C++ and Rust are considered a plus.
  • Good experience with system and network administration on Linux system
  • Very good knowledge of sniffing tools such as Wireshark, and knowledge of writing protocol dissectors for them.

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of CCSDS standards is a plus.
  • Good knowledge of virtualisation environments (KVM, Proxmox) and storage platforms (Ceph) is also a plus.

You will be working within ESTEC, the European Space Agency’s offices in the Netherlands as a contractor for Telespazio Belgium. Due to the COVID restrictions, we don’t expect the employees to be on-site full time however you will still have to relocate to the Netherlands for this position.
