Who You Are
You will enforce our team providing Engineering Services in the area of Data Processing Systems and Applications for our customer EUMETSAT. Special emphasis will be in the contribution to the new programmes under development and maintenance and evolutions of online Ground Segment elements specifically for L0, L1, and L2 near real-time data processing.
This position is based partly at our customer site at EUMETSAT and partly at our head office in the Europahaus in Darmstadt. It is a permanent full-time position with an immediate starting date.

What You Will Focus on
- Define, design, implement and integrate architectures or elements of architectures for data processing ground segments and their components – special emphasis will be on L0, L1, and L2 near real-time data processing
- Maintain and evolve existing operational data processing ground segment applications under configuration control
- Provide expert advice to the procurement and installation of software, and the co-ordination of software releases with external providers of support services
- Generate formal project documentation
- Participate actively in meetings and formal reviews
- This is a challenging role, combining solid hands-on experience with strong organizational skills
What You Bring
- University degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science or other relevant discipline
Essentially
- Proven experience in the field of Data Processing Systems
- Solid competence in software testing and IV&V
- Hands-on experience of operating and maintaining software systems in Linux, AIX, and Solaris
- Strong technical writing skills, in particular in the area of formal technical documentation
- Excellent communication, presentation, and team working
- Coding skills, e.g. Python or C++
- Proficiency in English
Desirably
- Having worked within the European space industry environment;
- Requirements management experience using DOORS;
- Knowledge of relevant standards (ECSS).
