The Position

  • We are looking for software engineers to develop the SafetyNET-Next Generation (NG) system for Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH (DFS), which replaces the DFS-STCA and CoSNET systems used in the German Air Traffic Control Center area.
  • The aim is to combine into one product all four ground-based Safety Net functionalities currently in use at DFS control centers. Up to now, the following ground-based Safety Net functionalities are used in the control centers:
  • Input/output data processing (Asterix messages CAT062/065/004, weather data, configuration data, maps / terrain model)
  • Data recording, analysis and playback
  • Supervisor workstation (HMI to control SSR/ACID suppression, scheduled area suppression, input/output data control)
  • HMI for system monitoring
  • Safety net functions (STCA, MSAW, APM, APW)

This position is based at DFS in Berlin (Langen would also be possible), remote work is possible. It is a full-time and permanent position, and the expected starting date will be immediately.

In the framework of this software development project, you will support the development team in on one or more work packages depending on the availability and skills:

  • Input/output data processing (Asterix messages CAT062/065/004, weather data, configuration data, maps / terrain model)
  • Data recording, analysis and playback
  • Validation of XML files, generation of YAML files and validation-results reporting
  • Aggregation and provision of data from different sources
  • Configuration of the monitoring tools Prometheus and Grafana
  • Development of an agent that receives data and provides them via a MIB, which can be accessed via SNMP


  • A university degree in aerospace, informatics, mathematics, physics or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of experience in development of software systems during the whole software development life cycle is required c
