Who You Are

We are looking to strengthen our service team at our customer premises in Oberpfaffenhofen near Munich with a talented and ambitious team member. If you have an eye for detail and love working in a dynamic and challenging workplace, then this could be your opportunity to be part of the Columbus Flight Control Team. As Columbus EPIC Flight Controller (European Planning & Increment Coordination), you will prepare and execute Columbus mission operations in the framework of the ISS activities.

What You Will Focus on

  • Preparation for and successful completion of the Columbus FCT Basic and EPIC training programs, culminating in certification as an EPIC/COMET Flight Controller.
  • Familiarization with the Columbus control centre’s operating procedures.
  • Mission planning and operations support for the Columbus module.
  • As COMET Flight Controller, responsible for real time operational planning and experiment monitoring.
  • Operational planning coordination with user centres, flight control teams, and NASA planners.
  • Preparing for mission operations. The preparation is focused on the Columbus subsystems, while also taking into account the Col-CC facilities and the overall system.
  • Payload operation preparation with a focus on planning.
  • Support and development of new experiment operating concepts.
  • Support for the development of operating procedures that take into account the Columbus system’s mission analysis interfaces.
  • Offline data collection, analysis and reporting.
  • Further development of the ISS/Columbus operating concepts for follow-up projects.

What You Bring

  • Engineering degree in Aerospace or related technical disciplines of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
  • Proficient user of computer systems and MS Office suite.
  • Fluency in English both spoken and written.
