Job summary

The primary radar sensors are typically the central component of the larger surveillance system. In such are several sub systems integrated, which aims to provide the best possible situational awareness under all weather conditions.
As an application architect at Terma you will be responsible for securing the right solutions to the global market and for supporting sales, customer projects, product management – innovation in technology and market development. Here, you will deliver deep technical and operational knowledge.

“You will not be alone with your assigned tasks. Spending your days working with skilled and experienced colleagues, you will quickly feel the drive and motivation that shapes our exclusive, great team of seven architects. We are really good at creating a positive atmosphere in a sometimes hectic but extremely rewarding work environment,” explains Morten Rasmussen, Senior Director, SMS Security Programmes.

Use your deep technical insight and holistic mindset to deliver “the right” and profitable solution

Your tasks include but are not limited to, definition and documentation of advanced solutions based on standard products, including responsibility for support to sales, preparation of demonstration activities, including validation of solutions, support to customer projects, and support to service engineers.

You will typically support or be responsible for the technical part of a tender, based on your detailed understanding of customer requirements and how they match the product portfolio. You must be able to interpret and break down user requirements to system requirements.

During project implementation you may participate as the technical lead during integration and verification activities for example on-site; airport, port or a challenging coastal location.

You may also from time to time be tasked to assist product management in transferring radar systems from the development stage to of-the-shelf products.

You can expect the working day to be varied and the priorities to shift from time to time. You should thrive working both alone and in teams, as most tasks will be completed in close cooperation with your colleagues. Another variation in the working day is shifting between working on your laptop and with the radar equipment (hands-on).
You will be in direct contact with customers and end users. Therefore, a central part of your role will be to follow through and ensure that your stakeholders are continuously kept in the loop. You create understanding and commitment by addressing uncertainties and risks.

“You will work with dedicated colleagues and exiting high-end technology. Our radars are part of security and safety applications – and our applications protect infrastructure, coastlines and airports worldwide. This means that you will interact with a range of different customers and market segments as you ensure definition, implementation and integration of our proposed solutions,” elaborates Morten Rasmussen.

Your primary location will be at Terma Lystrup but, you do also have the option to work from home. Travel of up to 35 days a year can be expected.

How to succeed in this position?

Preferred competencies are:

  • You hold a BSc in electronic engineering or similar
  • You might possess substantial knowledge on radar solutions
  • You have a highly analytic approach and deep technical understanding
  • You are able to work independently in a dynamic environment
  • You are committed to deadlines and have a structured approach to assignments
  • You are able to deliver quality with a service-oriented perspective
  • You speak and write English fluently including being well-constructed in writing

As a person, you enjoy working in an environment where two days are rarely the same. You have the innate ability to keep a cool overview even when juggling multiple, often complex, projects. Moreover, you like being out-going and are excited about using your ability to create connections to build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders alike – including a versatile group of technical experts.
