Terran Orbital is seeking a motivated Ground Software Manager based at our Irvine, CA location. Terran Orbital is a leading worldwide provider of nanosatellite and microsatellite vehicles, services, and solutions to commercial and government customers.

The Ground Software Manager is responsible for leading a team of developers responsible for building and maintaining the tools that enable end-to-end operations of our spacecraft and ground station network. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, planning and execution of the necessary efforts to support ground software engineering projects, future pursuits, and programs. The manager proactively collaborates with functional and business leadership teams to support business growth and program requirements.

In this role the selected candidate will communicate with stakeholders internal and external of the organization including customers, vendors, executive leadership, and other engineering discipline managers on ground software statuses as well as proposal and future work.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with business and functional leadership to prioritize tasking to align with the needs of the business
  • Participate in customer meetings and coordinate with Program Managers to define and refine ground software requirements
  • Track all internal and external deliverables, prepare and present formal and informal design and progress reviews to executive team and our customers
  • Analyze requirements and create project scope and milestones for ground software development and support tasks
  • Assign tasks to ground software engineers and work with the technical lead to ensure work is being executed to required timelines and quality
  • Identify opportunities for ground software to support vehicle production, test, and operations across multiple missions
  • Identify opportunities for new development to improve ground segment capabilities in support of internal and external customers
  • The ability to travel as necessary
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Sciences and a minimum 9 years of relevant experience or
  • Graduate degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience
  • Desired development experience in Python and JavaScript
  • Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence, etc.)
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools including experience with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work simultaneously on a variety of projects; possesses strong organization and prioritization skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to motivate and engage teams through innovation, collaboration, and mentorship initiatives
  • Strong writing, presentation, and oral communication skills
  • Advanced Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related technical discipline from an accredited institution
  • Experience with spacecraft telemetry, tracking and control (TT&C)
  • Experience with developing technical documentation as necessary
  • Experience managing the software development lifecycle
  • Active U.S. Government-issued security clearance
