Bid Estimating Manager

In this exciting and meaningful environment, Thales is seeking a skilled and experienced Bid Estimating Manager to join our team.
With a growth mindset, you will be in charge for shaping and driving better Estimating outcomes for Thales Country Business Units, such as Land Systems, Digital Identity & Security, Under and Above Water Systems, Defence & Security, Aerospace and Space.
With an inspirational mentorship approach, you will work closely with peers and stakeholders to provide estimating support and guidance to bids and to achieve a competitive and high-value bid estimating process.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the bid estimating process from start to finish, including review of RFPs, developing cost estimates, and preparing proposals
- Collaborate with sales and project management teams to identify key project requirements to develop accurate cost estimates
- Analyse bid results and provide feedback to sales and project management teams to inform future bidding strategies
- Introduce, retain and maintain databases, training materials, tools and processes
- Assisting the bid to get through Costing Reviews and aligning the CWBS with customer requirements as well as providing Executives with an independent assessment and sign off of the final estimates
- Manage and mentor a team of estimators, providing guidance and support as needed
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including vendors and subcontractors
Requirements:
- Proven relevant experience involving estimating and/or pricing management at a senior level for large and complex systems and programs, underpinned by a track record of successfully led and won bids in a competitive business environment
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines with multi-partners / major co-contractors simultaneously
- Ideally defence experience / ASDEFCON tender submissions and FIS audit
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear and concise manner
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team to achieve results
- Strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to analyse customer requirements and market trends to develop winning proposals
- A qualification in an Engineering discipline, Business or related field is desirable
- Ideally formal project management training, e.g. IPMA, PMBOK or Prince 2 qualifications is desirable
