Our Opportunity

Thales Flight Avionics have a new opportunity for a Configuration and Data Management role which provides exciting opportunities for learning, development and progression within an established System Engineering team, and is ideal for someone with, or wanting to develop, experience of the aerospace domain.

As a Configuration and Data Manager you will be responsible for managing the configuration and data management planning to support all new and existing projects within Flight Avionics.

You will have the opportunity to be part of a highly skilled team focused on the development, delivery and support of products and programmes to a wide variety of customers in the aerospace sector; covering both the Civil and Military domains. This could include:

  • The development of our next generation Mission Planning System or Secure Information System for military helicopter platforms
  • The development of our next generation SATCOM Terminal for the civil airline market
  • Supporting one of the several studies we are undertaking for the Integrated Module Communications (IMC) programme, to shape the future of aircraft communication systems

This role is based in Crawley and there will be the opportunity to work from home with occasional travel to Thales and customer sites UK wide.

Experience and skills required:

  • Bachelor Degree (BEng, BSc) in a numerate, scientific or engineering subject or higher education/equivalent training and experience
  • Experience of working and implementing Configuration and Data Management (CM) within a Defence and/or Commercial environment, including alignment to appropriate standards (in particular Def Stan 05-57 and EIA-649)
  • Track record of delivering effective Configuration and Change Management across the product lifecycle (concept through to support) for System, Hardware and Software Configuration Management processes
  • Experience of Part and Product Lifecycle Management tools (e.g. Teamcenter, PALMA, etc.)
  • Experience of Data Management (DM) and Document Management tools
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbally and written, with the ability to present and explain technical and complex problems, tailored appropriately for the audience
  • Is a team player with a “can-do” attitude that performs effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment and promotes the values of inclusiveness and diversity
  • Is confident in their ability to help solve complex problems, asks challenging questions to develop their understanding, and suggests new ideas to further product offerings and increase our added value
  • Displays enthusiasm about learning new skills and technology, and takes their own self-development seriously

What We Can Offer

Working Hours:

You will be contracted to 37 hours per week; core hours Monday-Thursday 08:00-16:30, Friday 08:00-13:00. We will always consider flexible hours and working arrangements.
