About Aquila ATMS:

In anticipation to a further contract award, Aquila Air Traffic Management Services (ATMS) are currently looking to recruit a number of Flight Simulator Operators to join our team located at the Defence College of Air and Space Operations, RAF Shawbury

Aquila was formed in 2014 as at join venture between NATS and Thales, the primary supplier of equipment and services for UK Air Traffic Management (ATM). Aquila was awarded the £1.5bn Project Marshall Contract by the MOD, a programme to provide updated terminal ATM capability, with a managed service operating model for military users until 2037. Currently Aquila employs over 200 people, predominately in the UK but also includes locations in Gibraltar, Cyprus and The Falkland Islands.

About the role:

Working as part of a team, as Flight Simulator Operator, you will be responsible for creating and executing realistic Air Traffic Management scenarios through effective operation of PC based simulators for customers such as the Royal Air Force, Royal Navy and Foreign and Commonwealth personnel. The scenarios deployed are to replicate that a future military Air Traffic Controller is likely to meet, either in a radar or airfield situation.

This role will offer a significant amount of training so we are keen to hear from individuals who have a real interest and aptitude to learn, offering a fantastic opportunity to learn in a challenging and rewarding environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Create and execute realistic Air Traffic Management scenarios through effective operation of PC based simulators.
  • Work as part of a team with a high dependency on effective liaison and planning.
  • Respond effectively to requested scenarios within individual training exercises.
  • Maintain effective communications.
  • Work constructively with other members of the Flight Simulator Operator department and our customer.
