Your Role: What you’ll be doing

Provides engineering design, systems integration, subcontract management, product technical support and anomaly resolution for the Propulsion fluids systems (cryogenic, non-cryogenic, hydraulics and pneumatic) design.

  • Develops sub-system and component designs and requirements to satisfy overall propulsion systems requirements.   The position requires mechanical design capability as well as understanding of dynamic, structural and fluids analysis concepts.
  • Performs system integration and perform system level trade studies to optimize designs for manufacturing, produce-ability and performance.  Develops design improvements that reduce cost and risk and/or improve vehicle performance.
  • When anomalies occur, provides causal analysis that leads to effective resolution and corrective actions that prevent recurrence.
  • Generates engineering drawings or changes as well as assembly and testing requirements is part of the job function.
  • Manages and directs contracted propulsion component suppliers (e.g. valves, engines, feed lines, umbilical disconnects) in their development and manufacture.  Reviews the as-built product (hardware and associated software) and product test data to certify that the final product configuration and performance meets requirements and is ready for test and/or flight.

Requires a bachelor’s degree and 2 – 6 years of experience.

Your Background: What skills you’ll need

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required, with a desired Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 2+ years of direct propulsion design experience is highly desired.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Familiarity with fluids and thermodynamics design and analysis.
  • Familiarity with structural design and dynamics analysis.
  • Proficient with mechanical design, with preferred experience utilizing NX and Team Center.
  • Previous project management experience is a plus.
  • Must be self-motivated and team oriented.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office platform tools and Project integration skills.
