Our friend Lowell Thompson interviews the CEO of Astronauts4Hire (it is shared with his permission).
Balancing being a primary care physician with working on building out ASP, a team of people trying to help support the burgeoning commercial space industry.
Astronauts4Hire’s mission is to increase the competitiveness of commercial astronaut candidates by providing skills training, facilitating forums for candidate communication, engaging with potential employers, and inspiring the next generation. A commercial spaceflight revolution is underway. Private companies will soon provide routine access to space. Besides tourists, scientists are among those poised to benefit since they can use the new spacecraft as platforms to perform research in microgravity. Demand for skilled commercial scientist-astronauts to aid in this new industry is growing rapidly. Astronauts4Hire intends to create the first pool of private astronauts to fill this need. In doing so, they will demonstrate that private citizens can pursue careers in space and inspire the next generation.
